Meet the 2018 Artists in Residence

In 2018, in addition to offering the annual weekend gathering, Art Camp offered artists an opportunity to make work and build community in an intimate and intensive setting, with a smaller group of artists and more time and space for individual creative practice. These three residents got to delve a little deeper into the questions Art Camp loves to ask: how are our creative and spiritual practices intertwined, and how can we build the beloved community of artists we hunger for?
Alex Kuehne
Art Camp Staff & Artist in Residence 2017 & 2018
Alex likes tearing pieces of paper into smaller pieces of paper, knitting, analogies, sarcasm and making sounds. After graduating from Maine College of Art, Alex spent this year living in San Francisco, spending lots of time with a 1 year old and a knitting machine. Alex will return to Maine to work at Friends Camp for a third summer before joining Art Camp's staff and Artist in Residence teams for the second time.

Cosper Onsott
Art Camp 2017 & 2018, Artist in Residence 2018
Hello! My name is Cosper (they/them), I primarily identify as a painter and poet at the moment, I'm also a printmaker and tattoo artist. I'm excited to be a part of Art Camp because art is an inherently spiritual act for me and it isn't often enough that I get to tie these practices together in a community setting. I'm living in a house full of naughty animals in Portland Oregon and pursing my dream of writing and illustrating children's books. I'm self-publishing my first chapbook of poetry this Summer as well as an experimental, creative writing game. I'm an attender of Multnomah Meeting and NPYM, I also practice Tarot and other witchery.
